初代転校生は、大工棟梁・林敬庸が入学しました。震災前に防風林で倒れた樹齢350年ほどの黒松の存在を知った当時の教育長・石井賢一氏が、再開の「証し」そして未来に繋げるシンボルとして、この木材を活用した大きなテーブルをつくりたいという思いを受け制作を行いました。子ども達は、最低限の専門的な指導を受けるとともに、本物の技術や知恵、仕事に対する姿勢に触れてきました。最後は子どもたちが企画し、地域の方々を招いて開催される「感謝の会」で、テーブルのお披露目を行いました。
The first transfer student was Takatsune Hayashi, a master carpenter. When Kenichi Ishii, the superintendent of Education at the time, learned of the approximately 350-year-old Japanese black pine tree that had fallen in a windbreak before the earthquake and requested Hayashi to create a large communal table using the wood as a "proof" of the reopening and a symbol for the future. The table was unveiled at the "Appreciation Day" planned by the students and held for the community members.

西粟倉村（岡山県）を拠点に90年以上にわたり神社／仏閣、住宅などの建築物を造り続ける大工の家系の3代目。日本の木造建築技術や文化を後世に伝えるために、在来工法も組み込んだ大型遊具やツリーハウスの制作、国内各地でワークショップ、まちづくりの活動、そしてデジタル建築などを多岐に渡り手がける。
Takatsune Hayashi is the third generation of a family of carpenters, based in Nishiawakura Village in Okayama Prefecture, who have been building from shrines, temples, and both traditional and modern architecture. In order to pass on Japanese wooden construction techniques and culture to future generations, he works on the production of large playground equipment and tree houses using conventional construction methods and also holds workshops across Japan as well as working on town development projects and digital architecture.
